How can I contribute materials to teachingcomics.org?

We're always on the lookout for good quality comics teaching materials to make available on teachingcomics.org.  The best way for you to get your materials online is to join NACAE by registering with the site and setting up a personal profile (use the "Create an Account" link at the bottom of the User Login bar).  Once registered, you'll be able to use a simple MS Word-like interface to post teaching materials to your profile area.  Editors are regularly reviewing posted material and may then ask you for permission to post items to the main resources area of the site.

Registering and setting up a profile will also help you to promote your classes and will allow people seeking comics instruction to contact you.

What sorts of material are you looking for?

We're looking for teaching material which:

  • Is broadly applicable across age-ranges.
  • Has been used and tested in an actual classroom environment.
  • Is written with clarity and readability in mind--keep "jargon" to a minimum.
  • Does not relate to specific characters or companies--a lesson on "how to draw characters," not "how to draw Batman," for example.
  • Addresses comics as an art form, rather than as a "cultural signifier," etc.
  • You are comfortable making available for free for others to use.
